My family and I went after reopening after quarantine. Everyone wore mask and they were taking the necessary precautions which was greatly appreciated. I had the chicken and waffles which came with an over easy egg on top. It was quite tasty. I also had a mimosa which was too thick and lacked enough champagne for my liking. The inside of the restaurant is very cute. It cost to park in the parking lot which requires downloading an app, so I suggest the free hour street parking.
We went at 4pm so it wasn't crowded. Service was good and the food didn't take long to arrive. My son had the chicken and waffles(one of his favorite dishes) and he gave it 2 thumbs up. He said the batter was crispy and the chicken itself was a good quality. The waffle were also crispy and served with hot syrup. I had the pot roast with mashed potatoes and mushrooms. It would have been nice to have a vegetable with it. A bit salty and the some of the meat was dry. Overall good flavor but nothing special. A big plus was the bread that came with it. Pleasantly surprised at the flavor and soft texture. I'll stick to breakfast items on future visits.
I’ve not had a bad meal here. The picture here is of their crispy ginger chicken sandwich with a cabbage slaw on a brioche bun. I’ve also tried their steak sandwich which I absolutely love. Their lattes are pretty good too. Love their fries and food comes out quickly.
Black Walnut Cafe has become one of my favorite spots to eat. I took my mother out to lunch there and she loves it as well. Love the cool, laid back vibes this place gives off. Good food , friendly staff!! Keep up the good work!! 👍
Good eats. Great location! AMAZING SERVICE! They bring your food out to you and with having to ask they pick up your plate when you’re done. It’s definitely worth trying if you’re visiting HTX!
