Rothko Chapel
Non-denominational chapel featuring 14 monumental Mark Rothko paintings that create a profoundly meditative environment. Opened in 1971, the Chapel is both a sacred space and a major work of modern art, drawing visitors from around the world. The Barnett Newman Broken Obelisk sculpture in the reflecting pool outside is an iconic Houston landmark. The Chapel hosts regular programs on human rights, philosophy, and interfaith dialogue.
